2017 Art Show & Auction

We have successfully produced another Art Show worthy of fine art recognition and our students created some gorgeous pieces together. This year we had not chosen a theme prior to the planning of the projects, but in the end we think that our theme was “Circles and Other Shapes” as that’s what ended up happening in the majority of our projects.

Everyone asks each year where we get our ideas for projects, and the answer is Pinterest. We are Queens of Pinterest and we scour the site for fun and interesting projects that we think kids could pull off, and we imagine what we could make out of everyday objects. ¬†As teachers we save lots of recyclables; things like lids and caps, or applesauce pouch lids, or corks, or old tiles, or hand-me-down ball pit balls, or the caps to glue sticks, and pinecones, and sticks we find outside. We’re hoarders and we know it, but we make cool things with the stuff we hoard! When you have 50 kids making projects, you need to have lots of everything so each students can have free reign with what they want to use. We also typically have a Pinterest Fail each year and this year we had two. It’s never the ones we think it’s going to be, but the ones we wanted so badly to work out. However – both of them still turned out beautifully and we actually made money on them at auction.
